Good morning!! Today is a beautiful day. The sun is shining, birds are chirping and the trees are budding! Yeah Spring is here. Such an amazing feeling of rebirth comes with Spring. New challenges, new projects, new loves, and for us here at MJ Photo, new faces. I love this time of year because I get to meet sooo many new lil people and their families. Our schedule is starting to fill up and Spring sessions are almost full. Please call us today if you want to get in a full or mini session before Summer. There are a few spots for our May Franklin Farm Sessions, but they wont last long.

My new studio manager, Jenn will be reaching out to all of you more and letting you know about all of the fun things. Our newsletters will go out about once a month and will have great info in them. Right now I have a favor to ask:: as all of you know my studio is located in the very urban:chic:grungy:awesomeness: part of Nashville, East Nashville. Which of course I love with all of my heart, BUT I am looking for a place….A place to shoot. Not move my studio. JUst hold sessions. A place with grass, trees, maybe old barns, fences, old rustic type stuff. Not too far out of the way and a place I can just show up and shoot for a hour here or there. DO you know of a place? Do you have such a place?

If you have a place please contact me and let me know about it! I have faith that you trusty readers will find me the perfect spot

I am sooo excited to be looking out my window and see the beautiful sunshine! I have missed it so and needed its presence to lift my soul. Of course winter has some small priviledges, such as hibernating and cozying up on the couch, watching wayyyy too many movies, eating wayyyyyyyyyyy to many meals and yummies. We did get our snow this year, really too much of it, but it was so nice to see the pureness of it and how clean and simple things look when covered in snow. But alas, its time for Spring. The buttercups are swaying in the wind and everything is green and blooming. I think there is something healing about seeing Gods creations come to life each year, to watch the lil tiny buds open up and become amazing living things. How awesome is He!

Of course I love Spring because I get to get back outside with my smallest friends and capture some amazing portraits. This one below is from a small commercial shoot for Snap Kids and a local magazine. More details later on that! Snap has some amazingly adorable cute clothes for Spring and Summer!!
We are booking up for regular sessions and our minis are almost full. Yeah. You guys are sooo good to me.

Ready for some baby goodness? Make your heart thump,skip a beat and melt all at once? Babies that will make your insides crave another???

This past weekend I was honored to host the talented Kelley Ryden & Tracy Raver Baby Workshop here at my studio. We had 15 photographers from all over the US come in and learn! Then of course we had these amazingly sweet lil babes come in for their modeling shoot! The room is kept at 80-90 degrees and its all about the babes. Kelley and Tracy are sooo gracious and open about the care &  love of newborn portraits. Some of these shots took an hour to get right, some 3 minutes, alot of that will depend on the babe, but alot of it depends on the photographer as well. First thing they talk about is safety of the babies. Never for a second are these lil ones put into a position where anything could happen, unfortunatly some others will try to reproduce their images and put the babes in positions that could be a tad unsafe. Please do not ever do that!! Until you are in the room and watch them work you cannot understand how some poses are created, safety is always first!!!    Learning this art takes great patience and time. I mainly do on location lifestyle type newborn photography but was so intrigued to learn more and boy did I! These are just a small sample of the images that we worked on. We were so blessed with an amazing group of photographers to work with all weekend and of course look at the beautiful babes! First we had lil Henry, then the tiny twin girls, Lillie & Dani, last we had our chubby lil angel Norah. Such blessings for their families, thank you guys for sharing them with us this week!!!!

Hello everyone. Well I have done it. I have fallen to the great thing we know as peer pressure You see alot of photographers do a lil contest at the end of the year, post pics, people vote…that sorta thing. I have always NOT done it because I didnt want to hurt anyones feelings…but after much persuasion….Here it is. The 2009 End of the Year Contest….(yes i know its already feb 2010…shhshhs)

Okay, so I had three people that have no stake in this what so ever go through thousands of images from 2009 and pick out their favorites. No reason why they are the favs, No set rules just pick out ones that you instantly love. SO here are 20, yes ONLY 20 out of thousands!!! I think they did a great job, I love all of these, there are hundreds and hundreds more that I love as well, SOOOOOO please noone get upset if your lil one isnt in this group! You know YOU have the cutest lil ones around and that I love them all!!

OK, so all you have to do is leave a comment below with the number of your favorite image. We will do the contest until next Saturday night at midnight and the winner will be announced Sunday morning~in the past we have had trouble with comments, if yours wont post please email me instead at mjphoto@comcast.net

OHH forgot to say….you can have as many of your friends and family vote, only one vote per person!

The image with the most comments will win at 16×26 gallery wrap canvas of the image  plus a free session during the month of Feb or March!

Second and third place, both will receive a free session for Feb or March!!
